unZined - Liz Owen

Liverpool and indeed the North West is rife with amazing young talent and its a privilege to be able be involved in such an amazing scene.

There are those however, that stand out of the already talented crowd. One in particular was Liz Owen, singer/songwriter from Liverpool. I came across her whilst attending an EP launch for another solo artist.

It was evident from hearing her first song and then on the entire set, that she was a unique and strong solo artist with a mature sounding vocal style full of emotion and conviction. Helped along with her well played guitar skills, her songs moved the audience as I noticed all conversation had died as she sang her songs.

Liz recently helped answer a mini-interview I prepared for her to help us better understand herself as a musician and what influences her. Check out the interview below:

unZined - Scarlet

Introducing Scarlet, a female fronted five piece alternative/indie rock/pop band from all corners of Northern England.

Since forming in 2014 the band has hit the ground running by supporting Bob Geldof's Boomtown Rats and playing the huge London based festivals, Secret Garden Party, and Hop Farm Festival in July 2014. They certainly show no signs of stopping. Already planning their debut release with EP with help from Liverpool producer and sound engineer John Murray. Read more about the band below:

unZined - The Hummingbirds

The Hummingbirds are a five piece country inspired indie band from Liverpool, winners of the "best new band" at the Liverpool Music Awards 2013 and stated to be "the ones to watch" in recent music media. With sold out upcoming gigs and a new album on the way they show no signs of stopping and are topped to be one of the most promising bands to emerge from Liverpool in recent years.

Busy as they are at the moment, they have manage to find the time to answer a few questions unZined posed to them to find out what makes the Hummingbirds a popular band at the moment and what drives them. Check out the interview below:

unZined - Little Indie Night - Band Night Review

28th February 2015, a date we at Little Indie Night were excited about for a long time since planning started in mid 2014. The bands and DJs performed exceptionally and the night turned out to be successful overall with a good turnout. It was a great experience to be involved in it myself along with Gareth Crilly and Iain Tinsley, who also hosts a boss unsigned talent show over at Halton Community Radio. We thank everyone who turned up to the event, Faktory Studios Chester who sponsored the night and the staff at the Bridge View Runcorn who hosted and helped out with the event.

Check out my write up of the night below:

unZined - James Swift

One of unZined's many purposes is to promote local talent especially budding young musicians. James Swift is but one of many young musicians looking to enter the world of gigging and producing tracks and albums for masses.

Currently studying music at collegel, James is looking to further grow his musical knowledge to aid him more in doing what he loves. Already, he has started producing albums and songs and has started gigging in the North West.

I posed some questions to James in order to find our what motivates him, what got him into music and more. Check it out below:
